The
location: a huge tent in the Syrian Palmyra desert. The
group arrives by Pullmans to the site and is welcomed by
a Bedouin band ushering them along a road lit all the
way by lanterns/candles to the Siwan (a large tent). The
tent is furnished by banqueting tables and seating but a
laid out service or waiters are not to be seen. Once
everybody is seated, a drum sounds suddenly and a
firework lights up the dark. The arrival of a camel
convoy, carrying the catering and flanked by dancing
Bedouins singing special welcome songs dedicated to the
company or group, is announced. The tables shall be
prepared for drinks and food and the extraordinary menu
will make up for the shock of the empty tables. During
dinner merry musical melodies are played on flutes,
harps and jazz instruments for the group to enjoy and
dance to. Just, as is habit in Syria. The party can last
until dawn or as long as the group likes. The event can
accommodate groups of 50 up to 300 participants.
