The
magnificent Azem palace in Damascus has been chosen as
the venue for a festival themed on the pasha (Ottoman
Governor) and his court. A troupe in colorful historical
dress, accompanied by local music and a folk dancing
team, receives the attendees for the Pasha's reception
party. Sword dancers and a horseback cavalry escort the
invitees through the specially decorated narrow alleys
of Damascus to the Palace Ottoman clad guards greet the
party with an arched passage of raised swords leading
through to the yard, where festivities commence with
Darweech dancers and Samah Andalusian dance troupe.
Guests are invited to join in and learn the steps of the
dances. Following a colorful and rich dinner banquet,
the pasha is announced to appear as the highlight of the
evening. Instead, audiovisual sets, which have been
carefully concealed, are suddenly revealed to present
the product to be launched. The mystery of the pasha's
court can truly be felt. Sound and complete the show.
